A place to gain transformation and develop teamwork, at a whole new level, during the retrieve training journey. A place to grow, to learn, to see yourself differently.
Watch the video I just posted from today's retrieve training session with Ruth. You are making common handler errors such as not keeping her head straight ahead, turning your body slightly INTO Fran, allowing her to avoid the work by laying down and etc.
So, learn how to keep dog's head straight, to require dog to remain in a Sit and to "Square up" before you present.
The REALLY hard part about this RC is that your handling and mechanics are still rooted in what it took to train Alfie, a REALLY HARD DOG. Fran is NOT hard, not at all, yet your handling reflects some Alfie leftover mechanics, mindset and handling.
It is incredibly difficult to go from training a HARD dog to shifting yourself, as the handler, into working an easy or soft dog. I have requested several of my students, who know what a struggle it is to go from HARD to soft/easy dog or just to train a really soft dog in the retrieve process, to write their story and share. I will post here when they get their stories and observations to me. Their experiences will help you learn with Fran.
