A place to gain transformation and develop teamwork, at a whole new level, during the retrieve training journey. A place to grow, to learn, to see yourself differently.
Pointers: 1) Where is your 'heading to the ground?' You will need that this week and to be able to do 12" retrieve approximately 1" above the ground. Fran has to learn to watch as the DB is lowered and to take responsibility for following it. No more retrieves at her eye height. 2) No verbal "Here" nor a verbal "Sit". A flat buckle collar is MUCH better for shaping the Turn and MUCH better for shaping the Sit, silently. 3) Soon, you will present DB as you 'go to the ground'. But not now. So are you working here retrieves on an elevated training table or the ground? It matters as if you are working her consistently on the ground, part of Fran's retrieve 'picture '📸 is you continually bowing. You don't want that picture as part of the dog's visual learning picture. Same principle as the formal Recall, the "Come" is done with an upright and stationary handler. 4) Final pointer. Fran is a Graduate of FC and in Advanced RC. Cease doing the step back on the Finish and train her to do Finish with you NOT moving at all.
