Ruth passed her Lesson 6 EXAM of 90-seconds of continuous "HOLD" in low distractions easily last week.
ReplyDeleteWe did practice her "HOLD" in VERY high distractions while at the AKC obedience shows during the weekend. Also, practiced her retrieves there too.
I went on to Lesson 7 "HOLD" in HIGH distractions for 90 seconds which is the Lesson 7 HOLD EXAM Part 2. I did the EXAM in several different locations with different HIGH distractions. She passed with flying colors. So, I opted to take her unto Lesson 8 "HOLD" training, Part 3 this Wednesday. Those videos will be uploaded on another page.
But, for an accomplished and skilled KMODT handler, ESPECIALLY when working with a sporting dog breed that lives with other trained retrievers, like Ruth, one CAN go forward IF and WHEN they know the curriculum and the sequencing of steps. In my case, I've put formal retrieves on more dogs than I can count, I can see Ruth is ready to move forward so I am doing so.
